Yuen Biao was born July 26th, 1957. His real name is Ha Ling Tsan. He is 5th of the 7 siblings in his family.  Yuen Biao was only a toddler when he spent time with his family. His father owned a knitting company in which all his sisters worked there. His love for kung fu movies and his fathers love of Chinese opera sent him to the Peking Opera. The Peking opera is were some many martial art actor came from. He entered the school at age 5. He describes the training as harsh, painful, and extremely difficult. He was lo

oked after by Jackie Chan who was also in the Peking Opera.

When you would get an injury in the Peking opera the master (Sifu) would only treat it if it was life threatening. Yuen Biao had an injury that was life threatening but master Yu Jim Yuen saw the injury as a reason not to practice. Luckily Yuen Hong (sister at the opera) nursed him to health with no sleeping in till he was healed. Biao admits she saved his life by nursing him.

Days at the opera where hard for everyone. It was so physically demanding of you, that you would want to run away. Biao and the others were always punished by big brother Yuen Lung (Sammo Hung) which he, Jackie, and Biao would later become the three brothers. Sammo will always be looked up to as Dai Go (Big Brother) by Biao and Jackie. Sammo was the first out of the three brothers to leave the opera. He left with stating that thechinese opera craze was gone and the kung fu movie craze had hit Hong Kong. Soon one by one every one left the opera accept Biao. Biao went to America with his master to promote Peking opera. There attempted failed. Soon Biao found him self in New York's China town making cassette tapes for a living. This all changed when his father call him saying the Kung Fu movie craze is selling big. Luckily all the opera students could use their training and use it to make movies. Biao's opera brother Sammo was already in the movies action directing and acting and Jackie was still trying to get the head start like all of them. His skill is underated. He doubled for so many others during his film career including Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung and others but doesn't show off by telling who he doubled.

Biao found Jackie at a bar and did a head stand on a chair facing Jackie telling him what American see Chinese as. Biao then worked with Jackie who later failed supporting him and his self. Biao moved on as a stunt man and later got recognized by Sammo. Sammo offered him film roles, action directing, and stunt work until they both got popular. Knockabout was Biao's fist break threw film which was certainly not the last. He also was the main chacter in the Hong Kong film classic Prodigal Son. Biao then worked on Project A, which was released in 1983. Project A was a break through film staring the three brohers (Sammo, Jackie, and Biao). Project A was so innovative at the time because it had an actual plot instead of the old kung fu revenge movies that were getting tiresome  Project A took a long time to make. The scenes were overly shot until the scenes were high standard.  After the film the three brothers stared in so many Hong Kong block buster films. The brothers then went there own ways because they got sick of making movies with each other.

The most memorable thing Biao did in the 90's was playing Fuen in Once Upon a Time in China and directing A Kid From Tibet. After those two films Biao never made a break through film but who knows there might be another break through film coming soon. As for a three brother's film Biao said he doesnt want to make one yet, but he's still making movies and is in great shape. His acrobatic skills are still intact but not like they used to be but its better that he doesn't injure himself trying.
